Bob Dylan tilldelas nobelpriset i litteratur

Idag tilldelades Bob Dylan nobelpriset i litteratur. Som en ständig Dylan-lyssnare (och läsare) kunde jag inte låta bli att jubla. Kommer bjuda på några recensioner längre fram. Men tills dess…

Här kommer några tips på låtar (med citat), utan inbördes ordning, som inte är ”Blowin in the wind” eller ”The times are a changing:

Emotionally Yours
(från ”Empire Burlesque”, 1985)

”I could be dreaming but I keep believing you’re the one I’m living for
And I will always be emotionally yours.
It’s like my whole life never happened
When I see you, it’s if I never had a thought
I know this dream, it might be crazy
But it’s the only one I’ve got.”

Like a rolling stone
(från ”Highway 61 Revisited”, 1965)

”You said you’d never compromise
With the mystery tramp, and now you realize
He ain’t selling any alibis
And as you look into the vacuum of his eyes
And say, ”Do you want to make a deal?”
How does it feel?”

Workingman’s Blues #2
(från ”Modern Times”, 2006)

”There’s an evening haze settling over town
Starlight by the edge of the creek
The buying power of the proletariat’s gone down
Money’s getting shallow and weak
Well, the place I love best is a sweet memory
It’s a new path that we trod
They say low wages are a reality
If we want to compete abroad”

Cross the Green Mountain

”A letter to mother
Came today
Gunshot wound to the breast
Is what it did say
But he’ll be better soon
He’s in a hospital bed
But he’ll never be better
He’s already dead”

Not Dark Yet
(från ”Time Out of Mind”, 1997)

”I was born here and I’ll die here against my will
I know it looks like I’m movin’ but I’m standin’ still
Every nerve in my body is so naked and numb
I can’t even remember what it was I came here to get away from
Don’t even hear the murmur of a prayer
It’s not dark yet but it’s gettin’ there.”

Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands
(från ”Blonde on blonde”, 1966)

”With your mercury mouth in the missionary times
And your eyes like smoke and your prayers like rhymes
And your silver cross, and your voice like chimes
Oh, who among them do they think could bury you?”

I want you
(från ”Blonde on blonde”, 1966)

”The guilty undertaker sighs
The lonesome organ grinder cries
The silver saxophones say I should refuse you
The cracked bells and washed-out horns
Blow into my face with scorn
But it’s not that way
I wasn’t born to lose you

I want you, I want you
I want you so bad”
